What is artisan water

Artesian water is ground water confined under pressure between layers of relatively impermeable, underground rock-called a confined aquifer. Artesian water rises to the top of the aquifer and sometimes above land when a well taps the confined aquifer. A spring is an unconfined aquifer filled to the point that water overflows onto the land's surface. Spring water is collected as it flows to the surface, coming in contact with soil and rock layers.
